DUE TO OPEN 2013
NYC meatpacking glam is coming to Marylebone in the shape of The Standard Grill – a UK offshoot of the famous transatlantic destination. The new restaurant will be part of Andre Balazs’ soon-to-launch boutique hotel in the old Chiltern Street fire station, & is expected to run as an all-day eatery with a transatlantic bistro vibe & perhaps the addition of a ‘raw bar’ dispensing crustacea, charcuterie & cheeses. If the original is anything to go by, the food will be something of an eclectic hotchpotch – charred Spanish octopus with sweet potato & chillis, spicy braised beef short ribs with glazed pearl onions & polenta, & grills such as marinated swordfish with tabbouleh & Moroccan chermoula are standards across the pond.
