Famed for his sunshine cooking, Aussie TV chef Bill Granger has done his best to transport some Bondi Beach cool to Notting Hill – even if the British weather means that his live-wire eatery will never quite have that ‘shorts and flip-flops’ vibe. Still, the mood is ‘fun and entertaining’ and queues can reach ‘biblical levels’ – especially at weekends, when hordes of buggy-pushing families hunker down in the vibrant, light-drenched room for a spot of brunch. The kitchen deals in big Antipodean flavours with a heavy splash of South-East Asian colour – perhaps salmon ceviche with grapefruit, creamy avocado and sesame, or turmeric-spiced chicken with slaw, lime and coconut dressing. Desserts such as banana fritters with citrus caramel are to die for, and Granger’s reputation as the ‘egg master of Sydney’ ensures that breakfast doesn’t disappoint. No bookings.
