Hummus Bros’ genius turned the humble Middle Eastern dip from corner shop standby & student staple into something rather special. Britain’s first dedicated hoummos café was founded by two college chums (not actually brothers) in Soho in 2005, & is now a mini-empire with a number of outlets across London. Coffee, desserts, salads & juices are available, but it’s really all about the secret recipe & a multitude of toppings that elevate it from hippy food to hipster food. Simply choose your embellishment – perhaps fava beans, beef stew or a rogan josh special – then add extras (carrot sticks, feta) & sides (smoky aubergine, tabbouleh) if you wish. The possibilities are endless. Free Wi-Fi, friendly staff & pristine surroundings are part of a package that pleads ‘give (chick) peas a chance’.
