Carnivores start salivating at the piles of fresh sausages & steaks displayed on the meat counters, even before they make it to the bar – let alone their table at this homage to British meat. Butcher & Grill is all about the unassailable quality of carefully sourced raw ingredients, & the emphasis is on casual dining – though seats can be reserved & there’s usually space for walk-ins at the big canteen table in the middle. Stick to the meaty essentials if you want to get the best out the menu: grills & charcuterie are always top notch, but ordering something like crab risotto with white asparagus is hardly worth the trouble. Breakfast is a good shout if you’re in fry-up mood. To drink, pick something suitably beefy from the red-heavy, surprisingly affordable wine list.
