Motormouth jockey-turned restaurateur Frankie Dettori has re-branded and refurbished his Ferrari-themed Cavallino as Sette – a more personalised venture reflecting his racing pedigree. Equestrian photos now join the celeb portraits on the walls of the monochrome dining room, and there’s a new bar area for cocktails and aperitivi. Dettori has also recruited seasoned chef Stefano Stecca to head up the kitchen, and the result is a menu with strong regional overtones. Seafood and pasta are the standouts from a repertoire that plunders Stecca’s home turf for cuttlefish and langoustine salad, monkfish with roast potatoes, and linguine with lobster. Otherwise, expect a seasonal gallop from pappardelle with broad beans, peas and pecorino to lamb chops with grilled aubergine, plus desserts such as torta di mele (apple cake). The restaurant’s numerical moniker acknowledges Dettori’s record as the only jockey to ride seven (‘sette’) winners in one day.
