Square Meal Review of The Bar at the Door ?

If you’re looking for a more intimate cocktail/Champagne/oysters experience than the animated (but noisy) Royal Exchange opposite, the elegant curved bar at the Door is a useful ‘plan B’. Set in an attractively converted bank, it offers a fairly short cocktail list (from £8.50) including martinez, pear & rosemary martini, the trader (Tequila, cinnamon, ginger & orange bitters) & Cornhill fruit cup –a turbo-charged take on Pimm’s. Otherwise, the imaginatively presented special offer of a flute of house Le Mesnil Grand Cru Champagne & half a dozen plump oysters (including fine Essex Blackwater natives) for £16 is a City deal to jump on.
