About

Burger & Lobster may be a well-known name with restaurants across London and beyond, but its Soho outpost on Dean Street brings something a little extra to the table. Opened by four friends in 2011 with a simple mission - to serve the very best burgers and lobsters, and nothing else - the group has since become synonymous with indulgent, no-nonsense dining. The Soho location channels that same ethos, but with the added vibrancy and flair you’d expect from one of London’s most characterful neighbourhoods.

Set among the buzz of creative studios, indie theatres and late-night haunts, Burger & Lobster Soho fits right in. There’s a laid-back, upbeat feel to the space - all exposed brick, warm lighting and clattering cutlery - and the service matches the mood: unpretentious, enthusiastic and fast on its feet. It’s a go-to spot whether you’re grabbing a casual dinner before a gig, hosting a group gathering in the private dining room, or simply walking in off the street for a bite and a cocktail.

As for the food, the menu is refreshingly straight-talking but full of punch. Start with wagyu beef croquettes or grilled prawns with chilli and olive salsa, then move on to the classics that made the name: Nebraskan beef burgers with all the fixings, and wild lobsters served whole (steamed or grilled), with lemon and garlic butter, fries and salad. For the indecisive or extra-hungry, the B&L combo is the best of both worlds, a burger and a lobster roll, side by side.

Beyond the signature dishes, there are smart additions like seafood ravioli with lobster butter sauce and indulgent desserts such as the B&L ice cream sandwich or espresso brownie with caramel sauce and popcorn. With a full cocktail list and homemade lemonade to boot, it’s a crowd-pleasing spot that delivers on flavour, fun and comfort, especially in the lively heart of Soho.

Food freshness issue

My husband and I had an early dinner yesterday (around 5pm), we were both celebrating my birthday. We ordered starters (calamari and lobster croquet) and we shared a Combo for 2. The service lacked attention to hadoc requests (salt, extra drinks), not the best at all. But the main reason for this review is the outcome: both of us had a horrible night, not feeling well and both had diarrhoea (not the nicest feeling at all after spend over £100 on meal) not to mention this experience has ruined my birthday night. Total disappointment, it is 8am and I am still not feeling well and worst, I am still with this unpleasant diarrhoea. I can not say what made us both so ill but definitely I can say that a restaurant that serves fresh seafood should really make sure it is fresh and edible, and there is not cross-contamination in the kitchen. Disappointed!

I absolutely love all things lobster from Maine and the lobster rolls at Burger and Lobster come the closest to the real deal. A bit pricey but when it's what I crave, then I treat myself.

Burger or Lobster or Burger and Lobster, that's what you get. No wasting time looking through long menus, the offer is simple, the food is abundant and always well cooked, and the cocktail list is quite good (their Bellini is something I would happily order again). Service is fast and given the location, very good, as they cater for thousands of people, many quite happily queuing for a table at the small entrance. Dã©cor is what it is, one goes for the food, not the dã©cor when it comes to this place. Good value on the whole.

That steamed lobster is to die for
We had the steamed lobster with garlic butter and the lobster roll, and they were absolutely amazing. The lobster was juicy and jet-fresh, and went perfectly well with the sauce. They come with fries and salad too so come with an empty stomach!

Craving lobster?
Burger and Lobster was a place I had heard about a lot and a place I NEEDED to go to. I love seafood especially lobster so this was a no-brainer for me. The menu is very simple: burger + chips, lobster roll + chips and Lobster + chips. I went for the lobster roll and it was delicious! The meat was creamy and every bite was FULL of gorgeous flavour. What's more, the butter sauce they give on the side is AMAZING. It tastes amazing with the fries and the salad and even better if you drizzle it over the lobster- UH it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

I am trying to book on-line, looks like the restaurant is book indefinite even in Dec 2014. I will not be able to get the 100 point if my booking will not be accepted on square meal calendar, I have to call the restaurant to book directly. Not happy with this.

Worth it
You can't book a table at the Burger and Lobster so it was a big gamble going there in the pouring rain and risking a queue. However, on a Monday evening around 5:30pm we got a table for 2 with 0 waiting time. The concept was explained – “would you like burger or lobster?” not being seafood fans we already knew we wanted the burger. The prices are the same for the burger and lobster dishes, so my guess is that they under price the lobster and overprice the burger – but BOY was it worth it! yes – i love a good medium rare burger and it was perfect. The fries were great and the side salad was even delicious! (not recommended for a first date as its hard to be well mannered and use cutlery here!)

Burger and Lobster will always be a winner. The concept is great, and you'll always chuckle to yourself when you hear a newbie asking to see the menu. We tend to order one of each and share everything, not letting food envy get the better of us. These guys turn more tables than i've seen in many places and the food that comes out of the kitchen has always been spot on. I like my lobster grilled with garlic butter and it's never been too chewy and there's just the right amount of fries and salad to go with everything. The claws tend to be huge and half the fun of going to this restaurant is to get involved with your claw crackers, the messier the better i say. The burger is big and juicy, always a perfect medium rare topped with cheese and bacon. Burger and Lobster can't seem to go wrong. The only thing that would let this place down is the fact that it's so in demand you may be waiting a while for a table. Two tips; you can eat up at the bar and the bartenders make really good company or you could just wait until after 9pm in the evening when it starts to die down a little. The atmosphere is always buzzing and the staff very efficient and friendly, they must make a packet! Burger and Lobster Soho is one of their bigger venues so there's a greater chance you will get a table over the smaller venue in Mayfair. Enjoy this quirky venue for what it is and if you have to wait a while for a table, then they're obviously doing something right!
