This Italian small-plates pit stop is the brainchild of Stefano Fraquelli, the man behind Knightsbridge’s tourist hub Zia Teresa and the Getti mini-chain. The modern interior exudes a New York vibe, mixing statement chandeliers, bare brick, quirky mirrors and chocolate-brown banquettes, while shareable standouts from the extensive menu range from dinky spinach and ricotta pizzas to upmarket bites such as calamari fritti, creamy burrata or bresaola with truffle. Main courses are offered in two sizes (try the flavoursome Tuscan sausage or regional monthly specials), while the ‘chef’s selection’ set menu offers three dishes for £11.75 – music to the ears of Haymarket’s theatre crowds. The drinks list goes heavy on Italian wines and beers, with an admirable range available by the glass and carafe. Service, though welcoming, can suffer at busy times.
