Notting Hill’s Spanish community & other devotees of Iberian cuisine are well served in the area around Portobello Road, & now there’s another place for them to get their pincho & paella fix. La Bodega wears its patriotism with pride: a red & yellow colour scheme, flamenco soundtrack & Estrella on tap give this casual eatery the look of a backstreet bar in downtown Valencia. By day, a mixed crowd of Spanish women & local office workers can be found gossiping over cheese or meat platters, or gobbling up tapas-sized portions of albondigas, tortilla & chorizo. Later on, diners are drawn to a range of six paellas, including seafood & black rice versions as well as the classic Valencian recipe.
