This good-looking sibling of the Kensington Wine Rooms stakes its claim with a 50-strong, by-the-glass selection from its Enomatic system. Pull up a bar stool, purchase a special ‘wine card’ & sip your way through the global array of vintages, or head for the dark-wood & brick-clad dining room for some simple but elegant cooking. The menu is also tilted towards wine, with suggested glasses accompanying each dish: a Driessigacker Estate Riesling with char-grilled calamari, rocket & grapefruit salad; a 2004 Barbera d’Asti Superiore to go with Gressingham duck breast, crispy olive polenta, cherry & apple chutney, or a show-stopping 1998 Urbina Rioja Reserva Especial alongside confit lamb shoulder. A separate tapas menu is handy for nibbling, desserts keep it familiar & service is breezy as well as knowledgeable.
