Fazenda is the Portuguese word for a farm or factory specialising in the business of coffee (from plant to sack), although this Spitalfields drop-in is actually the London offspring of a family
business based in Italy. It specialises in wood roasting, with sacks of beans arrayed around the floors & shelves of the bare-boarded, turquoise-walled premises: sample a punchy ‘robusta’ or
more delicate ‘arabica’ from consignments grown in the Congo, Honduras, Colombia, Brazil & elsewhere. To go with your chosen brew, Fazenda offers a spread of mostly ready-made, deli-style
dishes – soups, pasta, salads – plus some moreish cakes & pastries. Downstairs is a bijou basement space given over to displays of cool contemporary art, or you can chill at one of the seats
outside, steaming cup in hand.
