A swish Italian from the Waney brothers and entrepreneur Giuliano Lotto, this aptly named rendezvous occupies the ground floor of a former NatWest bank. Everyone agrees that the glamorously chic dining room is an absolute stunner with its marble floors, white leather and statement light fittings, but there's less of a consensus when it comes to the food. The long menu is nominally northern Italian, prices are steep and the cooking is wildly ‘erratic' judging by countless reports – although pasta is a regular hit (fresh tagliolini with ‘super-sweet' lobster and cherry tomatoes, for example). Other standouts include zingy sea-bass carpaccio, char-grilled T-bone steak with cannellini beans, and a ‘wonderful' lemon caprese. Some find the smart, white-jacketed staff ‘patronising', but the majority appreciate their doting attentions. Milan-style aperitivi are a feature of the bar.
