If you yearn for the atmosphere of a local tavern in a French provincial town, pop along to this old-fashioned Gallic bistro. Friends of the establishment take a coffee or a glass of wine with the proprietor at the bar; other locals meet for a drink & a snack. The more formal restaurant menu – terrine, escargots & salmon with dill cream sauce, duck confit, & profiteroles – may remind you of the 1970s, but it’s none the worse for that, especially as the kitchen knows how to prepare these dishes properly. Prices are a few years behind the times as well. Not surprising, then, that the slightly staid dining room, all dark wood & red, fills up quickly with customers at the appropriate times of day.
