As the name suggests, this revamped spot beneath the Finborough Theatre is part coffee-&-cake joint, part independent wine shop/bar. The main attraction is certainly the fruit of the vine, with some 30 bins available by the glass or carafe for those sitting in – plus ‘tasters’ for those after a bottle to take home. If you can’t decide, £8 buys a sampler flight of 12 boutique offerings from the cellar. The list changes regularly, but star buys might include a 2009 JL Wolf Organic Riesling (from a 500-case estate in Germany) & biodynamic 2008 Le Ban St-Aubin from Burgundy. The food menu is short & sweet, encompassing homemade cakes for the coffee crowd & platters of cheese or cold meats if you’re hovering over a carafe.
