Square Meal Review of Kimchee ?

Peddling Westernised Korean cuisine for city slickers, Kimchee’s smart surrounds elevate it well above run-of-the-mill ethnic eateries. Dark wood & subtle lighting set the atmosphere for an appealing menu of Korean classics – plus a few lesser-known specialities – all prepared in a bustling open kitchen. Opt for intensely marinated meats or fish from the charcoal grill (pork bulgogi or mackerel gui perhaps), an aromatic jigae (Korean hotpot) or the signature dolsot bibimbap, a spicy mix of meat, vegetables, egg & rice served on a sizzling hot stone. Add balance to your meal with modum namui (sesame-seasoned vegetables) & the eponymous kimchi (perhaps not as fierce as aficionados of Korea’s national dish would wish). To drink, go for Asian-themed cocktails, potent distilled soju or Hite beer. Attentive service completes an atmospheric package.

    The Food Connoisseur :: The beautiful – Kimchee Holborn

    When Kimchee opened its doors it quickly became popular and word of mouth spread rapidly. When my friend and I finally stepped into its doors. There was a long queue forming inside, the Holborn branch. There was a 50% off promotion going on and we waited half an hour. Whilst we waited I took the time to admire the stunning décor and interior. The open kitchen is very large and sharing table reminded of Busaba eathai dining space...

    Her Favourite Food :: Kimchee

    Kimchee is an extremely large restaurant standing tall in High Holborn. This expansive space is filled with dark wooden screens making the interior look extremely slick and stylish yet the restaurant balances this by using traditional Korean tableware to maintain a sense of authenticity. There must be at least 50 to 60 tables, composed of benches and large shared tables in this expansive space but at peak times it can feel a bit cramped, especially as the tables fill fast. In fact it’s worth dining early as despite the number of tables available there is often a queue spanning outside the restaurant...

  3. Kimchee Holborn, is a fairly new Korean establishment found in the heart of London. I work nearby and followed the hype that surrounded the restaurant when it first opened a couple of years ago; with queues out of the door. I was also quite enthusiastic to visit when I heard about some of their frequent deals they have...
