CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT
Sleek design & contemporary styling set the tone at this subterranean Thai, making it attractive for a night out – especially when you factor in a raft of exotic cocktails. Polite staff serve up dishes from an extensive, populist menu of Thai & pan-Asian favourites that embraces soups, stir-fries, curries & noodles. You might kick off with crispy vegetable spring rolls, chicken satay or prawn tempura with a spicy dipping sauce; after that, a plate of lime-dressed som tum (green-papaya salad) keeps things classic, while the execution of a southern Thai massaman curry is altogether more contemporary with huge cuts of slow-cooked prime beef in a moat of mild, coconut-infused curry. Your fellow diners are likely to be international tourists, dressy girls looking to party & post-work young professionals.

The Food Connoisseur :: Thai feast at – Ora London
Tucked away just behind Topshop/urban outfitters in the ever so busy shopping district, Oxford Street. Next door to “the social bar/club” well known for their fun hip-hop karaoke nights, is their neighbour Ora. Ora’s a contemporary stylish Thai restaurant in the heart of London. I arrived there first one afternoon, greeted by the receptionist; I was guided to a quiet corner in the restaurant. There weren’t many diners at the time, those who were there was finishing up their meals...

TwelvePointFivePercent :: Ora
Location, location, location are, as every estate agent and Channel 4 property show addict knows, the three critical factors in determining the desirability of a property. The same cannot be said for restaurants, which can thrive in the oddest places - both under and atop multi-storey car-parks, for example - yet fail in seemingly sure-fire sites.Ora is a fantastic smart Thai restaurant cursed with an abysmal location (location, location)...

Cooksister :: Ora – a taste of Thailand
Thai food: I have to admit, it's not something I grew up with. My hometown was not big on ethnic cuisine (other than Italian and Chinese restaurants) until well into the 1990s. Sure we had a couple of curry houses, but these were Indian curry - definitaly not Thai. It was only in the late 1990s that the first Thai restaurant in port Elizabeth (Natti's Thai Kitchen) crossed my radar, and within a couple of years I had departed for London. So to me, Thai food (like dim sum) is something that I associate largely with London. Not really surprising as there are loads of Thai restaurants in London, from the cheap and cheerful to the really quite pricey. Ora restaurant lies somewhere in the middle...
