Small but sensational, the bar at Oxo Tower is adjacent to the brasserie and offers something more impromptu – although tables can be booked. It’s a splash-out spot, but the cast of creative cocktails includes plenty of star turns that can hold their own against those primadonna vistas. Settle into a leather armchair and sample ‘a room with a view’ (Sipsmith gin, kirsch eau de vie, chocolate bitters, cherry sugar syrup and Champagne), a BrewDog beer or a glass from the thoughtfully chosen wine list. There’s also a modest selection of all-day snacks for those with hunger pangs (grilled soutzouki sausage with pomegranate molasses or crispy octopus with chilli aïoli), plus a few lunch specials. Seats on the outdoor terrace are at a premium for city sunsets.
