This 2010 newcomer certainly has made it in Camden. Part of The Roundhouse theatre, but with a separate entrance, it succeeds on many levels: from the vibrant worldly flavours emerging from the talented kitchen to the inventive cocktails & low-key cantina set-up. The emphasis is on sharing plates, & influences from the Levant & Asia abound, with kisir, yuzu & chermoula scattered throughout the menu. Lamb kibbeh is given an enticing twist, the belly meat braised until tender, fragranced with Middle Eastern spices & served with green yoghurt & herb salad. Sea bass arrives crisp-skinned & dressed with pomegranate seeds, tahini & tangy blood-orange segments. For a sensational curtain-closer, choose the peanut parfait, chocolate mousse & salted butter caramel – like a Snickers on steroids. Sunday brunch is another highlight; the shakshuka (eggs in spicy tomato sauce) can’t be beaten. Service can get stretched when crowds descend before a show.
