The Italian/Turkish couple behind Homa have lived in Stoke Newington for two decades, & pounced on this ‘perfect location’ in foodie-focused Church Street when the tired pizza joint in residence finally expired. They’ve transformed the large, split-level space into a stylish modern venue with a big communal table on the ground floor & a smart dining room & bar in the basement. All-day opening (except Mondays) allows for almost endless refuelling options, so you can brunch on vanilla French toast & strawberries, lunch on a selection of Italian salumi with focaccia (baked in-house) or drop by for cocktail hour, which carries the benefit of free Italian nibbles Tuesday to Thursday. Dinner is more formal, consisting of Italian-accented dishes such as confit duck with pearl barley, toasted pine nuts & sultanas, or a selection of wood-fired pizzas. Wines are keenly priced, chosen by Clive Barlow MW.
