There’s a lot to love about this café with a wholesome heart. To start, it makes use of seasonal & organic ingredients: nothing too unusual there, but delve deeper & you’ll realise that literally everything is homemade, from the cakes & cookies to jams & chutneys. Then there’s the dedication to a ‘meat-free’ day, as well as sustainable fish & Fairtrade goods, plus the fact that Lumen is run by a homeless charity, meaning that all profits are ploughed back into social enterprise. If that doesn’t inspire worthiness, tucking into a breakfast of refried beans on toast or munching on a parsnip, potato & cheese rösti with poached eggs, mushrooms & rocket for lunch might just make you feel like a new person.
