Square Meal Review of Haz St Paul's ?

Haz does white tablecloth dining, Turkish-style. That doesn’t mean it’s expensive – quite the contrary: set menus & sub-£14 house wine (‘a bargain in City terms’) come highly recommended. Consistently very decent, with ‘diligent’ staff & rapid service, this group of bright & airy restaurants probably isn’t well known outside of the Square Mile, but it is warmly regarded inside of it. A selection of hot & cold starters such as taramasalata (definitely not the neon-pink sort), imam biyaldi, feta & spinach börek or fried squid start proceedings nicely, before the main event – something from the charcoal grill such as lamb shish or chicken kofte. It’s a posh kebab fix for City suits, if you will. Alternatively, try a gently spiced & stewed casserole or some simply grilled fish.

Musings from the girl next shore :: Haz (St. Paul)

The ambience in Haz is very City: wooden bar stacked with liquor and rows of vino neatly displayed in box shelves, leather(ette?) upholstered chairs and crisp linen tables, wooden panels lit by that subdued yellow lighting that makes everyone look beautiful, minimal decor and a full glass wall overlooking Cheapside. It very much looked like a glorified canteen for pinstriped-clad worker bees...

  2. Juicy lamb tagine from Haz - Turkish restaurant in St Paul's, City of London I really enjoyed the food at Haz, a Turkish restaurant next to St Paul's in the City of London. While it didn't 100 per cent remind me of the time I went to Turkey, I certainly walked away knowing I had a tasty meal and a full stomach. I opted for the £11.95 two-course lunch menu, choosing the humus (or should that be hummus?) and lamb tagine. The humus was OK, but the lamb was very good, with the meat soft, juicy and well-seasoned. The dish came with seasoned rice, potatoes and vegetables, so it was very filling!...

Brunch etc. :: Girly lunch at Haz

There are a few good set lunch menus on offer - including an impressive selection of mixed mezze for just £9.95 - but we were all in the mood for something a bit heartier. Instead we went A La Carte, with four of us ordering dishes from the Charcoal Grill menu (which come with rice and vegetables) and one from the vegetarian menu...
