The dark-toned, sophisticated sibling of Goldfish in Hampstead is touting a new way with Chinese cuisine that incorporates influences from other parts of Asia but keeps the emphasis on ‘amazingly fresh’ ingredients. At lunchtime, Chinese-style ‘bento sets’ of crispy chilli beef & the like vie with trolleys of steamed dim sum & noodle plates, while the full menu also blends the traditional & the eclectic: expect deep-fried prawns in wasabi & avocado dressing, & mocha ribs with almond flakes alongside steamed sea bas with ginger & soy, or ma-po beancurd with chilli. The restaurant is spread across two levels, but in the evening the culinary fireworks are confined to the ground floor, with karaoke & cocktails in the basement.
