Still hopping with local twenty- & thirtysomethings with money to spend, The Frog has entered its second year in fine form. The location near Clapham Common tube certainly helps, as, perhaps, does the pub’s revamped interior (pastel colour scheme, chandeliers, leather sofas, roof terrace & all). Sports fans come to watch the big screen; party-goers throng here for the weekend DJs; & drinkers relax with a cocktail (mixed by knowledgeable bar men), a glass from the varied wine list or a pint of Sharp’s Doom Bar. The kitchen aims at gastropub levels, but the cooking is variable: sometimes the burgers are rather rubbery, the beetroot & goats’ cheese salad might be over-chilled. But when the waiters are on the ball (not always the case) an evening here can be fun.
