The look may be classroom chic – think wooden chairs, bench tables & blackboard displays – but the food is very far from school dinners at this hip pizza joint, run by two former bankers. Inspired by a visit to Oregon, Otto’s owners set up the UK’s first cornmeal-crust pizzeria & set about creating a range of bespoke toppings: homemade spinach pesto is combined with ricotta, mozzarella, fontina, tomato & basil, & the hand-crafted fennel sausage is a meat-lover’s delight. Amazingly, one 12-inch specimen with its robust, pie-like ‘case’ will feed two or three people – so share with friends or order by the slice, & don’t ignore the daily specials. Craft beers include an IPA from London’s Kernel brewery, as well as imports from Brooklyn & Chicago’s Goose Island.
