Newtons has been feeding the affluent denizens of Abbeville Village since the area first became gentrified. It’s a well-run bar-restaurant that might be thought old-fashioned, if that term meant thoughtful service, furniture that aids relaxation, & an appealingly lit room that exudes simple elegance. The lounge bar is ideal for a snack, or a glass of wine from a fairly priced selection listed by style. Adjacent is the dining room, where a menu offers global hits from the past 20 years: from blue cheese & chicory salad to grilled salmon teriyaki, via steaks, burgers or Thai green chicken curry. The cooking’s fine, but the comfortable, relaxed feel of the place is what brings people here.
