Something of a hidden delight on Chancery Lane, The Law Society’s stylish restaurant opens its doors to non-members for lunch. From calmly efficient service to properly spaced tables & a low hum of conversation, it’s eminently conducive to business meet-ups (reservations essential unless you are a member). Tender beef carpaccio with horseradish & earthy beetroot might get things started, or you could try a seasonal artichoke & smoked potato salad, before sampling spot-on roast plaice with classic parsley & caper butter or a plate of fat herbed gnocchi with tangy goats’ cheese & a truffled onion purée – all dishes skilfully balanced & beautifully presented. Special set menus (£18 for three courses) are an added bonus, as is the smart bar – open to allcomers looking for a drink & some nibbles before 9pm.
