‘Ooh la la!’ indeed. Coquine’s modish baroque chairs & ceramic blue-tiled walls – reclaimed from
a London Underground refurb – reflect the affluence of those who can afford the cocktails, vintage wines or £100 bottles of Champagne racked up behind the bar of this funky & exclusive VIP
lounge. Food is mostly limited to light bites, with a ‘raw’ bar serving oysters, tuna tartare & a small selection of sushi, but those who aren’t afraid of carbs can also gorge themselves on
bowls of fries, seafood risotto or steak burgers with Emmental cheese. Coquine (meaning ‘mischievous’ or ‘naughty’ in French) is set across two floors, & its moody basement den is packed at
weekends with members of Kensington’s smart set taking advantage of the DJ booth & late-night dancing opportunities.
