Behind that jaunty red frontage, Rosa’s turns out fresh, healthy Thai favourites at very fair prices, with service that’s perhaps a tad less smiley than at the Spitalfields original. Sit in the window – or try to snag a booth upstairs – & start with larb gai (a salad of warm chicken & puffed rice) or grilled beef with mint & chilli. Stir-fries include venison pad prik thai dam with herbs & black pepper, while spaghetti khee maow ta lae (with seafood, chilli, garlic & basil) is an unlikely alternative to gently spicy pad thai. To accompany fragrant, warming dishes such as pumpkin or duck red curry, order a side of rice – sticky, steamed jasmine, coconut or the special brown version with garlic. Casual, fun & recommended if you’re eating alone.
