Square Meal Review of Caravan ?

This chilled-out all-day venue has only been around since 2010, but has quickly established itself as a fixture on Exmouth Market, as well as selling its own-roasted coffee to top restaurants around town. It’s pitched as a kicking café, restaurant and bar with an Antipodean vibe, and the menu reflects London’s enthusiasm for the bright flavours of Asia, the Middle East and the Med in dazzling combinations – in other words, fusion. Small and large plates are offered, and sharing encouraged. Dig into a squid pancake with Japanese brown sauce and seaweed salt, sweetcorn with teriyaki butter or Arabica oxtail with crème-fraîche polenta. At breakfast, make it banana caramel porridge or a Caravan fry-up. And the espresso martinis are ‘amazing’.

Samphire and Salsify :: Caravan Exmouth Market

My Mum and I had tickets for the ballet at Sadler’s Wells theatre and as Exmouth Market is only a short walk away I decided to book us in for a quick bite to eat in Caravan. It’s more than just a restaurant as downstairs in the basement they roast their own coffee beans and my mother (Queen of the latte) can verify that it’s some of the best coffee in London. The restaurant itself was only small but had a great atmosphere and we were served by really friendly staff. The wooden chairs weren’t the most comfortable of things to perch on but I was enjoying myself so much that it didn’t bother me too much...
