Giving the lie to the notion that Canary Wharf is drab, grey & dull, the third outpost of Rocket (also in the City & Mayfair) brings colour to Churchill Place. You could call it a posh pizzeria for sharp-suited Italian bankers, but the menu ‘caters for all tastes’ with grills & signature ‘main course salads’ too. The latter include wacky versions such as ‘fish & chip’ – vast platefuls of food with just a suggestion of greenery. There are no half measures here: staff aren’t just friendly, they’re positively flirtatious; portions aren’t just large, they’re gargantuan. An upmarket, ‘every day’ kind of place, it thrives on its comfortable, lively vibe – though it’s probably better suited to bonding than business. The wine list gets a big tick for its sub-£50 rule & impressive by-the-glass offering.
