Baja Room at El Camion

The original El Camion Mexicano on Portobello Road now has a sibling in the shape of the Baja Room (formerly Dick’s Bar) – a dive bar & in-the-know bolthole for the Twitterati. ‘Camion’ is Spanish for lorry, & El C’s margaritas are the boozing equivalent of juggernauts; also expect a range of head-blasting South American swallows designed (& dispensed) by Dick Bradsell – the eccentric bar legend whose universally adopted babies range from bramble & Russian spring punch to treacle & vodka espresso. Things get raucous as the clock ticks towards 3am & waves of serious 100% agave shots begin to take their toll. Thanks to Dick & co, the days when the chance of finding a decent daiquiri were as rare as Aztecs in Acton are long gone.
