Located beneath the throbbing, packed-out Pizza East (see review), this capacious, late-night den is as raw-edged as the name suggests & hosts the sort of off-kilter club promotions that Shoreditch does best: ‘Literary Death Match’ is a gladiatorial spoken-word night that originated in New York; the ‘Record Player’ is a jukebox night (‘we pick the year, you pick the songs – the rest is history’), & ‘Youth Club’ involves ping-pong, board games, vintage game consoles & 90s’ dance anthems. There’s also live music, & DJs, too. No wonder diners from upstairs often find their way down to the action – especially birthday celebrants & anyone bent on making a night of it.
