Order at the counter, pay, find a seat & wait for delivery – that’s the drill at the Natural History Museum’s in-house eatery. The muted green furnishings in the spacious dining room complement the warm beige of the building’s stonework, but the lack of natural light creates a rather sombre & stuffy atmosphere – also be prepared for a high-decibel racket when the school parties & child-toting tourists descend. The menu reads like a not-so-thrilling roll call of junk-food clichés & old faithfuls, from stone-baked pizzas & cutely named ‘scoffasaurus’ cheeseburgers to shepherd’s pie & pappardelle in a creamy sauce – but with chefs from top caterer Benugo at the stove, freshness & quality are guaranteed. Prices won’t scare the dinosaurs, either.
