Square Meal Review of Altitude 360 ?

High fliers will feel right at home at this weekend-only restaurant, which sits on the 29th floor of Millbank Tower. As the name suggests, stunning panoramic views are the big draw at Altitude 360, which has long been a favourite spot for corporate events. Open for brunch & lunch at the weekend, British ingredients show up strongly on the menu – home-cured salmon with fennel carpaccio vies with a salad of grilled artichoke hearts, while mains stretch from fillet of Longhorn beef to pork belly with truffle mash. Like the views, the prices are far from low-key & there’s a supplement if you want a window seat, but it’s hard not to be inspired as you gaze out across the capital.

Altitude 360 is one of the greatest places that I've ever been to. I frequently travel back and forth between the US and London and I always have to stop in to have the breakfast at Altitude 360. The view is spectacular. Not only that – the service is excellent. I recommend the bread and butter pudding with chocolate sauce and their selection of desserts. Altitude is an amazing place, not to mention, they have a big plasma screen that they show images of London on. Sweet, I say.

Awful value horrendously expensive for a self service canteen style brunch basically you're paying for the view. Staff are willing but obviously not been properly trained you are introduced on arrival to a “waiter” whose only role is to bring you a drink. If you want to eat – and this is a brunch venue – then you have to queue up at the buffet table. Queuing is a nightmare as, by the time you get the eggs, for example, you then have to queue again for toast so either the eggs or the toast are cold!

There are plenty if great places in Lindon offering great value if you just want a view go to the top of St George's hotel Langham place much better.

I went twice – first time on a voucher offer and was so appalled by the experience that I wrote to the manager – who invited me back a couple of months later “after they'd made changes” I went back and guess what – no booking in my name on arrival! But I did get a table – and the only improvement I discovered was that this time the food on the buffet table had labels so you could identify the food.

I visited Altitude on a special supposedly less than half price deal via groupon. I thought I was purchasing two brunches for £39, I expected the quoted £97normal price was for two brunches not one. After paying £39 to groupon at the end of the meal I was given a bill for another £39. The manager was apologetic and so were the waiters and I was left feeling I was not the only person who slipped up.

Champagne was mentioned in the deal but you could only have that as a peach cocktail and I was offered a glass of prosecco.

Usual breakfast choices were available but my husband and i plumped for the roasts.
Soup and salad was available as a starter. The soup was in the usual warming couldron you might find in the local sandwich shop. Small jugs, (milk jug sizes) of dressing, unlabelled we had to guess what they were.
Croutons were available with the soup, these were run of the mill supermarket ones not the toasted ciabatta variety.

A small loin of pork was under some warming lights with tiny dishes of apple sauce. Chicken breast and leg portions were also on offer. My husband had to ask for a third small slice of pork. The veg, french beans, carrot and parsnip mixture and red cabbage were in the domed heated containers. No one appeared to monitor the vegetables as apart from the red cabbage, they were thin on the ground and cool.

One type of gravy was provided for both roasts and again in tiny unheated containers. The plates were unheated.

I had a pancakes for my desert and it was lovely. A chef added a selection of fresh fruit and chocolate buttons to a fresh pancake.

The coffee was awful and outrageous at £3.50 a cup. Filter coffee from a large urn. Too cool and too strong, probably stewing from first light.

    .
In a good hotel cappucino, expresso, juices, water, teas would be on offer. The juices should have been there but they were not on show or offered.

This was a typical breakfast plus carvery option, certainly not fine dining. It is strange that altitude sent me a menu stating £97 on it, totally outrageous

At £39 I felt it was poor value, at £20 I thought I was getting a reasonable deal for the surroundings, pleasant staff and typical hotel breakfast food with a few extras. I was outraged to be told the proper price was £97 and they were doing me a fantastic favor to charge me £80 for two. They did take £3.50 off for the terrible coffee.

The venue is lovely with panoramic views of the city, well worth a visit at the right price.

Quite simply the best Sunday Brunch in London. Really had a wonderful time. My wife and I arrived at about 1pm and stayed till nearly 6pm enjoying the fabulous food, wine and of course the views.

We finished Brunch at about 2.30pm but then stayed at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine to just spend a relaxing sunday together.

We will be back Altitude! Keep up the good work!

Last week I spent a weekend in London! On Sunday Me and my partner visited Altitude 360 in London. We were very impressed…the restaurant itself was very tastefully decorated.
A delicious Bellini, crêpe with a choice of sweet & savory fillings and an organic full English breakfast! To finish homemade desserts and unlimited freshly brewed coffee and tea…
Every course was impeccable from taste to quantity and presentation. A cool and sophisticated atmosphere with high quality food and attentive staff. Our booking done through their website included a huge discount…we saved 60%!
I planned to visit London with my italian friends in December for Christmas shopping…and I'm going to enjoy another lunch in Altitude 360!

I first came across the stunning Altitude 360 when looking for a venue for my wedding reception. With logistics ruling it out, I was really pleased to hear that they had opened up to the general public for sunday brunch- and with a fabulous offer for £39. The views are just too special to benefit only private/corporate events.

The whole brunch experience was well worth the money, with good food and service and an amazing atmosphere.

Thank you Altitude 360 for opening the doors!!

I have to say the location is really wonderful for a venue such as Altitude and the views over Westminster provide a superb backdrop, I can only imgine how beautiful the views will be at Christmas.

As for the food, I was impressed with the quality of care taken over the presentation and the calibre of food on offer, which I felt was well priced at £39 for the special offer, furthermore the staff were polite, attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

The only slight gripe I have is that the food did take a little bit longer than I would have liked to arrive but otherwise it was all fine and a venue that I would highly recommend

Altitude 360 is a fantastic venue with some of the best views of London. The sun was shining brightly while I ate my brunch on Sunday and the scenery made me proud to be a Londoner. The brunch was very busy as there has been a promotion on and costing £39 is good value for money when you consider the standard of food and the wonderful venue. The service was slow but I wasn't in a rush, it is brunch after all!! My Bloody Mary (the hottest in London by a mile) was delicious but of course if you want to wake your taste buds up gently there are milder options. All in all a lovely trip out and something different to do.

I went to Altitude for Brunch on Sunday 24th October having booked with the special offer on their website “£39 instead of £97 for a delicious buffet style organic brunch with juice and unlimited coffee, plus a choice of a Bellini or London's hottest Bloody Mary and entrance to the viewing gallery at Altitude 360º – saving 60% off the usual price.”

It was a beautiful sunny day with really clear skies and the views from the top were really stunning. We just caught the end of our tour as we were a few minutes late arriving, but the bit we heard was interesting so I would recommend it.

Altitude itself is very slick and modern, I've never been to any events here but it would be great for a corporate event or for a very modern London wedding reception. It was freezing though. Sit on the sunny side if you can, we sat on the shady side (nicer views; Westminster, etc) and the aircon was on full whack. I was miserably cold and our food got cold faster than we could eat it.

However, I'm afraid I am less positive on the food, service & value for money. If I had paid the full £97 PER HEAD for this brunch I would be absolutely raging. To put things in perspective that's more expensive than afternoon tea at the Ritz, or dinner at Chez Bruce with good quality wine, both of which have phenomenal food and impeccable service. Even at £36 per head it represents very poor value for money.

Firstly, the food at Altitude was fine but I can't say anything better about it. I ordered the full organic cooked breakfast and so did my husband and when they arrived out we both had different things (hash browns on one plate, not on the other, different amounts of sausage, black pudding, etc). It's not a big deal, but what that says to me is that there is no quality control and no-one checks the plates before they go out. Not a good sign.

Certain items on the menu were ordered from your table, and for others you had to go and queue at a food station while they were made. Frankly, if you're paying £97 you shouldn't have to queue like a Travelodge buffet. The food from the stations was good, but the queues were very slow as there was only one chef on eggs and one chef on crepes. After queuing for 5 minutes for Eggs Royale, and still being nowhere near the top of the queue, I got bored and went to order the full organic breakfast. The point of going out for brunch is choosing exactly what you want to eat, not compromising and eating whatever you can get.

One of the more lunchy options on the menu was a choice of four different types of pasta. I was going to order the goats cheese and porcini ravioli, but was told it takes 30 minutes to prepare ANY of the pasta dishes! So we didn't bother, and neither did the people sitting behind us.

Secondly, the service was really very poor. I had to ask three times for a glass of water, our cooked breakfast took about half an hour to appear and when I ordered a mildly spicy tomato juice the waiter looked at me like I had 2 heads. Frankly, you shouldn't have to explain something so basic.

There are so many really great places to eat in London and Altitude could be a great place for brunch before pottering around the Tate but at the moment it's very badly run and really letting itself down. If the owners are serious about running it as a brunch venue they need to re-think the concept, teach their waiting staff how to do their jobs and fire the managers.
