‘Meat dreams are made of these’ quips one fan of A La Cruz, an Argentinian restaurant where steak is the headline act. A sibling of Hackney’s Buen Ayre, it adds some theatre in the shape of an asador – a traditional fire pit with giant slabs of meat dangling over the inferno. A glass panel separates the conflagration from the smart dining area, where carnivores take their pick from ample prime cuts & mixed grills – mollejas (beef sweetbreads cooked in lemon juice) & brochette de lomo (chargrilled onions & prime fillet wrapped in bacon) are among the more visibly authentic specialities on offer. If you’ve got room, round off with panqueques (pancakes stuffed with dulce de leche). Latin America dominates the wine list.
