Persia comes to Chiswick in the shape of this neighbourhood restaurant, which aims to combine the spicy exoticism of the orient with the safe comfort of south-west London. Inside, the decor eschews hanging lantern/floor cushion chintz in favour of something more modish – think glossy wood tables, upholstered chairs & a trendy bar. The menu is a decent stab at Persian cuisine, although some dishes deliver more than others. Starters such as ash-e-reshteh (a popular soup made with Persian noodles & fresh herbs) & kookoo sabzi (a herb omelette) are the best shouts from the starters, while mains are a mixed bag; koobideh (a skewer of minced lamb) stands out, although the selection of stews can be hit & miss. Desserts are mostly patriotic offerings such as baklava, with chocolate fudge cake pandering to European tastes.
