Chef-proprietor Malcolm John has been in the restaurant trade long enough to know which buttons to push, & has put his experience to good use in this bright all-day brasserie in Sutton. The menu, a mix of French top hits, offers breakfasts of croissants or eggs Benedict, plus full meals of moules marinières, duck confit with lentils, or sea bream with green beans & saffron sauce. A French-based wine list provides ample accompaniment. Quick lunchers are served by a short, inexpensive list of speedy dishes including salads, omelettes & steak baguette; there’s a set menu for those who have more time. Service is slick, the room chic without being chi-chi, & the cooking absolutely comme il faut. The local competition has been put to shame.
