The inspired reworking of the old Nobu premises high above Canary Riverside has created a sophisticated & memorable dining room; what was once simultaneously cluttered & spartan is now appealingly understated yet undeniably chic. Head chef Mini Patel trained under Marco Pierre White & Gordon Ramsay: unsurprisingly, the luxury on the plate quite matches the setting, so that you might start with Alba white truffle with toasted sourdough & eggs before sirloin of beef with foie gras & caramelised onions, rounding off with a passion-fruit soufflé. If such formality is anathema, there are tapas-style tasting dishes to share & a traditional Sunday roast at weekends. The wine list is replete with banker-friendly Bordeaux & Burgundies, but there’s plenty of choice at more affordable prices.
