The vast expanses of the new-build Paddington Central have afforded the determinedly fashionable Massis concept more freedom & room to grow. A few lanterns & other pretty details give character to an otherwise rather brown space, & the manageable menu offers a greatest-hits assortment of Lebanese staples. Mezze include stuffed vine leaves, labneh, merguez sausages & a surfeit of haloumi, while mains bring on kebabs, chicken shawarma & char-grilled sea bass (a favourite with readers). At the back of the room, an illuminated bar lined with premium spirits points up the unusual care taken with the cocktail list; otherwise, drinks range from spiced teas to international wines (including a couple of Lebanese choices).
