You’d expect a restaurant as large, as established & as welcoming as Julie’s to have a class-act bar. And here it is, complete with leather chairs, plush sofas & the requisite medley of decorative features (Grecian busts, Moorish details, tasselled curtains). As a destination in its own right, it makes the perfect backdrop for a bit of unselfconscious star spotting. The cocktail list is stuffed with classics (mojito, martini, mule, margarita), but there are also a few nifty add-ons for those who fancy something different: perhaps the bourbon-based nine-inch stiletto or the vodka & pomegranate anniversary ruby, created in 2009 to mark Julie’s’ 40th year. But with all that glamour on show, this is really a Champagne kind of place with bottles starting at £45. Alfresco imbibing is also on the agenda.
