Situated on Level 2 of the National Theatre, The Terrace is not only a go-to alfresco destination with spectacular riverside views, it also does the business in the food and drink stakes. The kitchen deals in global tapas, so graze and nibble on gnocchi with morels and ‘quattro fromaggi’, ox cheeks with white-onion mash and baby leeks or sea bream ceviche with steamed coconut bread. There are also cheese and charcuterie platters to share, plus desserts such as marzipan semifreddo with black tea and balsamic reduction. Lubrication comes from a regulation line-up of bottled beers and international wines, but don’t miss the cool seasonal cocktails (especially the signature pumpkin martini). If the weather isn’t playing ball, bag one of the couches in the funky warehouse space and mingle with the luvvies, thespians and culture vultures. Note: also open for weekday matinees.
