The 1970s shabby-chic interior – with bare tables & brick walls, big leather sofas & chairs serving as a bar area at the entrance – wouldn’t pass muster in the West End, but in Earlsfield Hannah’s feels as though it belongs, & locals love the place. Excellent service (where regulars are recognised, but newcomers are welcomed warmly) & a caring attitude to customers’ enjoyment make up for any minor shortcomings in the kitchen. Choose from a menu full of comfort food – mixed antipasti, hamburgers, steamed sea bass with ginger, & suchlike – & enjoy the venue for what it is: a gentle, comfortable restaurant serving its community. Portions are enormous, prices are low & if you stick to the basics, the cooking is generally good.
