The decor of this no-frills Vietnamese – all turquoise-trimmed mirrors & bright lighting – may not be to everyone’s taste, but the cooking is in a league of its own. A vast menu runs the gamut from everyday stir-fries & pho noodle soups to dishes with a more adventurous tag (sweet-natured staff are eager to make recommendations). You might open with clean-flavoured goi cuio tom (cold pork & herb rolls) or a terrific salad of zingy green papaya with spicy dried beef. Next up, it’s worth braving the goat & galangal curry – a rich blend of coconut milk & heady spices with tender chunks of meat. Crisp-skinned whole sea bream, with its moist flesh & earthy black bean sauce, is a steal at £12, though most mains hover nearer £6 – making the whole experience fantastic value for money.
