Set up by L’Anima’s chef/patron Francesco Mazzei & Linda Yau (younger sister of Alan), this two-stop shop promises double the Italian fun – from gelato on one side to focaccia, salads, snacks & coffee on the other. Patrons shove up for one of the in-demand seats in the narrow rooms or spill out onto pavement tables armed with slices of crumbly lemon cake or hot paninis stuffed with salami, tomatoes & peppery leaves. Specials are chalked onto blackboards above bowls of pesto-drizzled vegetable salads. Over in the gelateria, a kaleidoscope of ice creams & sorbets has as much eye appeal as the beautifully designed, almost rustic space. Coffee is suitably strong & rich, but it can take time to materialise from the gurgling machine – although staff are generous with chat & smiles.
