The location of this Argentinian steakhouse, in what used to be London’s hub of leather making, is deliciously apt. The menu is a tribute to all things beefy, with an open-air parrilla ensuring each slab of animal protein arrives smoky & sizzling. Empanadas are an often-overlooked highlight here (crisp pastry encasing a saucy spiced meat & olive filling), but all eyes – & stomachs – are understandably reserved for the epic parrillada platters, comprising, for example, prime Argentinian sirloin & rib-eye steaks, chorizo, morcilla & provoleta (provolone cheese seasoned with oregano). If you still have room, finish with zapallo en almibar – a traditional pudding of pumpkin cooked in syrup, here served with cream. Constancia isn’t cheap, but there are plenty of full-blooded reds around the £20 mark (unless you feel like splashing out).
