Occupying a 1960s modernist monolith in the shadow of the BT Tower, this angular newcomer has been inspired by the vibrant bar scene that flourished around Tokyo’s Roppongi district in the 1980s – which means low, spoon-shaped leather chairs, graphic poster art & flying ducks, as well as a pinky-mauve basement bar with bubbling fish tanks. Cocktails now span everything from ‘interesting infusions’ & ‘crew’s creations’ to eclectic mixes from around the world. Cuba delivers the Commie Yankee (cigar-infused Woodford Reserve with sugar & Angostura bitters), while South Africa contributes Dronk Olifant (brandy & Armarula shaken with a splash of mango juice). Beers have an international flavour, & the revamped ‘street food’ menu also goes global, flying flags from Brazil (spicy chicken & cream cheese cocxinhas) to Thailand (nahm jim beef skewers with green chilli sauce).
