Surely one of the strangest places to eat this side of a surrealists’ picnic, tourist magnet Planet Hollywood feels rather like a student canteen, albeit one with martinis, T-shirt shop & an original thong from The Full Monty. Aside from the main, hangar-like space, there are two mezzanines for party time, & a lounge area by the bar. Once you’ve checked out the Dalek, Bruce Willis’s high-school yearbook & a pair of Avengers boots, you get to spend quality time with a menu that covers everything from Italian-American (fettuccine alfredo) & Tex-Mex/American (fajitas, burritos) to all-American (BBQ pork ribs). It’s all a big family treat, complete with a kids’ menu, heart-stopping puddings & movie-themed cocktails. Business is brisk at the weekend, so this analogue take on ‘celebrity’ must still cut it.
