Having changed its name from the London Cocktail Society, LCC is causing quite a hullabaloo in Fitzrovia. Bartending celebrity & co-owner JJ Goodman – 2009 winner of The Restaurant TV series – is one draw, as are the moody reclaimed interiors of the so-small-it-must-be-cool basement bar. Cocktail lovers will find all their favourites here, although the real attraction is the wacky ‘gastro mixology’ – anything from delicious rhubarb & custard (a creamy blend of raw egg yolk, vanilla sugar & rhubarb liquor shaken with ice & a dash of cranberry) to the more questionable bacon & egg coupet (smoky bacon, bourbon, egg white, lemon & sugar). Nibbles are equally esoteric: celery almonds & penny chews ahead of moreish mini-portions of pheasant terrine, smoked cod’s roe or spicy cocktail sausages served in a tea cup. ‘My favourite bar in London hands-down’, raves one fan.
