Owned by the same family for three generations, the Palm restaurant chain arrived in London with convincing credentials. A polished surf & turf offering, it’s known for ‘excellent’ 28-day-aged steaks as well as the rows of celebrity caricatures that add some distinctive character to the vast dining room. Parquet floors, starched tablecloths & a long, polished bar add to the all-American feel & ensure repeat patronage from homesick US citizens. Meanwhile, some Brits bemoan the lack of atmosphere & the childish decor, but give a collective thumbs-up to the American-standard service as well as the steaks & lobsters – although portion sizes have underwhelmed some & over-faced others. Prices are sky high & heavily marked-up wines do little to help matters – so ‘be ready to face a bill beyond your worst expectations’.

The Cow Club Council: a London steak blog :: The Palm
Our eighth outing, accompanied by our second guest 'Carlos the Jackal' (a value-add and humorous addition to our cabinet of reviewers), is to the Palm, planted at the fertile heart of 'the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea'. Pregnant with acclaim, laden with hype, it needs to deliver much to match its promise.
