Following a £1m makeover, the Cellars Restaurant & Bar of the grandiose Landmark hotel has been transformed into Twotwentytwo – a high-fashion subterranean space where bespoke leather furnishings & fabrics blend with the Victorian oak panelling, sculpted ceilings & antique fireplaces of old. A life-sized black horse lamp marks the entrance, light comes from dramatic contemporary chandeliers & diners now sit at butcher’s block tables with Champagne bowls set into their pewter tops. The kitchen delivers pan-European food for all occasions, from eclectic sharing platters to steaks & grills; in between, expect the likes of tiger prawn linguini, Angus burgers & fillet of sea bass with fennel, watercress & orange salad. A wine library runs along one side of the bar, & the list is helpfully arranged by style; also check out the cocktails for ‘Him & Her’.
